WHO ARE WE?

Our journey...
We wanted more options of how to respond to the opportunities and demands in our physical and psychological worlds so took time to learn from inspiring teachers and read lots (and lots) of research and books. We applied it and lived everything we learnt. Some things worked out really well and some things weren't for us! Instead of feeling like we jumped into the rapids of life each day we started to experience life with awareness, openness and acceptance. We started doing the things that really mattered to us. We took actions that scared us but we knew would move us towards what we value, like growth, freedom, authenticity and love. We started sharing what we were learning and doing with the people around us and like a ripple they started feeling like they had more options on how they wanted to live. As a group we stoped just being dragged in the rapids of life and started flowing in line with the deep human drives within us. We realised our passion and purpose was to share what we have learnt and continue to learn with others.

We do this through helping people know and connect with themselves, create awareness and understanding and have the tools to be present and move.  We use the areas Movement, Connection, Community and Growth to build Daily Practices to give us more options of how we want to respond to the challenges, demands and opportunities that come our way.

Q & A with Tom
Question: What motivated you to start the company Live Good Movement & Mind and what does it mean to you?
Answer:  For me it’s an opportunity to share the knowledge and teachings we have received over the past 10 years. The lessons we have learnt from professional sport and ultra endurance activities to end of life care and management of chronic conditions. It started as a personal problem solving activity, I felt lost with how to get the most out of my life so I started looking into so many different areas from Philosophy, Biology, Psychology to Sport and exercise. The more I learnt and started applying to my life the more grounded and connected I felt. People started asking me about it and the more I shared the more I realised I am not alone on this journey. I realise it's not all about me, it's about sharing and connecting and that gets me over my fear of starting a business.

Question: What are some of the daily practices that you do?
Answer: The first thing I do is check in with my body through doing some conscious movement. I start putting together flowing, active movements that I want to carry me into the day. I then do some form of mindfulness, usually in a playful way, some form of grounding activity. For example when I am making scrambles eggs in the morning I play around with doing the activity at half speed. This really creates present moment awareness to the activity of making breakfast, to bring me to the now. Gratitude is another practice, this has become part of my habit when I'm driving to work or meeting, I go through my life and feel such incredible gratitude.  What if you could only take into tomorrow what you were grateful for today?

Question: What would you like to do more of in your daily practice / what are you currently working on?
Answer: Self compassion! When we are going on this journey of self development we can have this image of this all perfect being that we think we "should" be heading towards, and any deviation from that can create tension and for me my very self critical thoughts come up. When I hook to these thoughts I get taken away further from where I want to be. This can be a viscous cycle however through increasing my self compassion and acceptance I could short cut this self critical noise.  I could waste energy beating myself up or I could be compassionate and start again from where I am at. With a clearer expansive awareness the pain and discomfort is then useful as pain + quality refection = progress!
I am also working on my hand balancing!
